One of the most important parts of any successful Radiation Therapy treatment is ensuring the radiation targets the tumor every time, while sparing the surrounding healthy cells as much as possible. To ensure this happens in head and neck cases, therapists will use a thermoplastic mask to aid in immobilizing the patient during treatment as well as recreating the patient's position from treatment to treatment. After the thermoplastic mask is molded to the patient's anatomy, therapists cut holes for the patient's mouth, nose, and/or eyes leaving sharp jagged edges from the thermoplastic mask.
SOFTSTRIPS Covers are cushioned 1” wide adhesive tape designed to bring comfort to the patient from the sharp jagged edges created from holes cut out of thermoplastic masks. S SOFTSTRIPS Covers have a convenient split backing enabling therapists to easily apply this cushy tape to the thermoplastic mask.
SOFTSTRIPS Covers have lateral slits every 1/2” to allow for easy adhesion around bends and curves. The S oFTSTRIPSTm adhesive is designed to remain on the thermoplastic mask for the entire duration of treatment, up to 8 weeks. They are perfect for covering the area around the holes for eyes, nose, and mouth.
